Sandor & Sansa
THIS.
SO MUCH.
THANK YOU.
I LOVE YOU.
Sandor also never acted on his “desires” and Littlefinger does actually force himself upon Sansa. Sansa also comforts the Hound, whereas she tries to push Littlefinger away.
Looked a few responses. Firstly, they’re not 40-something. More like late 20’s. Secondly, the intention wasn’t to rape. If you don’t understand what was going on in Sansa’s room that night, perhaps you never will.
You have to at least recognize the difference in these two characters from Sansa’s perspective. The way she thinks of Sandor is entirely different from the way she thinks of Petyr. And Sandor gains absolutely NOTHING from helping Sansa. The only thing the Cleganes stand on is their loyalty to the Lannisters. That’s it. He is betraying the only thing he has for her.
As stupid and naive as I can be I never thought that Sandor went to Sansa’s room having in mind to rape her, honestly!O_o Btw, rebblogging mostly for the comment about Sansa’s perspective in thinking about the Hound and Littlefinger: it seems clear that she feels herself attracted somehow (in a way she can’t understand neither, at the moment) to Sandor (thinking about him, dreaming about him, remembering a kiss that never really happened), repulsed by Petyr. As easy as it is.
SPOILERS FOR A STORM OF SWORDS
Oh, hey look. A discussion comparing Sansa’s potential romantic partners, that’s cool…
Oh geez, the comments. Good lord, are some people on tumblr dull.
Didn’t the narrative in Sansa’s chapters purposefully compare Sandor against nearly every man that she came in contact with? Let’s see how he fared, huh? A few examples:
- Dontos is timid, but the Hound is ferocious.
- The Hound is harsh, but he would do a better job keeping her safe than Ilyn.
- Osmund Kettleblack is as strong as the Hound only younger and faster, but Sansa hasn’t ever heard of him.
- Loras is like a flower, the Hound is like a dog.
- Tyrion is ugly, but the Hound is not as ugly as he is.
- Lothor Brune’s voice is rough and associated with protection, but the Hound’s voice is also rough and associated with protection.
- The Lord of Runestone is tall, but the Hound is tall too.
- Robert Arryn kisses like a little boy, but the Hound kisses in a… manly way??
The whole “comparing Sandor favorably against all the men ever made” is almost a plot point. It’s on purpose that Sandor is constantly compared like this.
So if you’re surprised that readers put down the books and still compare Sandor the same way he was compared by Sansa throughout the whole series, idk what to tell you.
Also, when comparing Sandor with Tyrion and Petyr, there’s something that jumps out at me right away that I’m surprised more people don’t mention. Out of the three of them, Sandor is the only one who has not murdered one of his sexual partners.
So, while Sandor is definitely a shady problematic asshole, there are real reasons to more strongly object to the other two, at least in the Sansa’s Risk of Death arena.

Oh, dear gods, thank you for this!!

She’s also been in contact with Sophie herself. They’re not the only ones who are being harassed by him so she asked me to pass the information along. If you’re one of these people, PLEASE screencap all the tweets, posts and possible messages on Tumblr and contact me so I can tell you who to talk to, she asked me to keep her identity in private so he won’t come and bother her on Tumblr too. She also informed me he’s been using fake names like Michael Corrison, Thomas Carney, and Bill Bailey. Let’s do it not only for Sophie but for all the other girls who are being harassed by him because no one deserves it. Thank you so much :)

Would you stop listening to a band because of many their fans?
Of all of the ships involving Sansa, this is the only one that is based on anything Sansa wants. She thinks about the Hound often. It makes her braver. It makes her stronger. When she’s in trouble, she remembers him and is comforted by it. She is saddened when he leaves her and wraps herself up in his cloak. She recalls the night he came into her room and remembers him kissing her, even though it didn’t get that far. She doesn’t remember being frightened. She thinks about his mouth pressed down on hers. She isn’t engaged in the kiss happening her because she’s thinking about kissing Sandor.
She’s comfortable being honest with Sandor. She doesn’t fear him. She tells him he’s awful. She always remarks on how he touches her, his strength and how gentle he is. Ned notices her watching his joust “moist-eyed and eager”. That chapter is not her POV. She is so involved that her father sees it. He is on her mind to the point of her describing other characters in comparison to him.
For all the shit Sandor gives her, he’s teaching her how to survive. Calling her Little Bird taught her to play the game. Sandor’s treatment of Arya is delicate and teaches her more than if she’d stayed. He refers to her as the little sister often. He takes care of her because she’s a Stark. He could’ve gotten a pretty price off of her at other times and he doesn’t. He cares. Sansa makes him care and she makes him think. Through the scars and through the wine, she touches him. Sandor knows that she’s actually far more than just a Little Bird. I think he’s one of the only characters that sees the she-wolf inside her. Seven hells, he’s one of the only characters that sees her at all. They don’t have heart to hearts, but him telling her she’s well-trained when she maintains that Robb is a traitor lets her know that she can hurt around him. He wakes her up after Joffrey becomes king by gently lifting her from her blankets (and it is mentioned that her only garb is a very thin dressing gown and we don’t get any uncomfortable and inappropriate glances a la Littlefinger). Sandor has nothing to gain in this game of thrones by being kind to Sansa or protecting her, but he wants to and he does.
And part of me hates GRRM for having Tyrion enter in chapter 32. I’d really like to know where Sandor would’ve gone after his cry of “enough”. However, if Tyrion hadn’t have shown up, I’ve a feeling he’d be executed on counts of treason, so thanks for that…
This series is not one in which I think my ship is going to get married and live happily ever after. I’ll consider it a blessing if they meet again. I’ll consider it a blessing if Sandor gets to kill his brother and then die for Sansa. I’ll consider it a blessing if I get one real kiss and a line poignant but probably involving a curse word that I will place on graphics and sob over until the day I die. By no means do I want Sandor in the shape he’s in now and Sansa as the girl she is now to go to dinner and a movie. They push each other in healthy ways and then split and grow. Both of the stories would be entirely different had they not met and interacted with the other. I just want their paths to cross again, now that they’re better, stronger, and more noble people. I want Sansa to fully realize the she-wolf and the queen that she is. I want Sandor to feel, entirely and wholly, feel his losses and move past them and live for himself, however briefly. I want one beautiful moment where these two characters, fully realised in their power and their goodness, are together and recognize what they mean to each other and do something extraordinarily bad ass.
So, I’m sorry, how was I not giving this thought again? Especially compared to other Sansa ships. And even if I was giving it no thought… why does that change how you feel? If you’re in love with someone and I think you guys are cute couple just because his hair looks nice, do you end that relationship?
Haters to the wall.
Gods bless you!!!!!!!

favorite ships of 2011: sansa/sandor (game of thrones)
The silence went on and on, so long that she began to grow afraid once more, but she was afraid for him now, not for herself. She found his massive shoulder with her hand. “He was no true knight,” she whispered to him. The Hound threw back his head and roared. Sansa stumbled back, away from him, but he caught her arm. “No,” he growled at her, “no, little bird, he was no true knight.”
I don’t get all the Sansa/Sandor Clegane stuff on the Sansa Stark tag.
I mean… he’s kind of emotionally and physically abusive to her? I’m a third of the way through Book 3, and so far he’s terrified her senseless, insulted and belittled her pretty much constantly, drunkenly forced her into…
I don’t know what books you’re reading but - firstly - Sandor has NEVER hit Sansa, not even once; secondly - he protected her all the way as best he could. He saved her on many occasions. And when you think he “insults” and “belittles” her… Well… try and read between the lines. You’ll find the whole new meaning to everything, and not only to what Sandor says.
The whole bloody series is about what’s implied, what isn’t said, what’s hidden. Seriously. If can’t see it you’re missing out on MANY things.
“Never lie to me”
Septic Flesh - Virtues Of The Beast
As a fervent proponent of SanSan, can I just say…
Unfortunately I’m on my parents’ laptop so I don’t have my gif collection with me so I second the above gif.
Firstly, I find it too creepy that the confessor used the actor’s names, and not the characters.
But more to the point, does this confessor realize that Sandor never actually kissed Sansa, she just remembered it that way, because of reasons. He was the one person who sorta kinda protected her most of the time (and Tyrion that one time), and now he’s gone, and she’s stuck with Lannisters and Creeperfinger’s wandering fingers, and so she’s romanticising the one person who was kind of on her side, who was also big, and strong, and a fierce warrior everyone was afraid of and who saved her at times, and she still probably hopes he’ll save her again one day, because she feels more trapped and caged than she ever did before, and he was honest to a fault and her life has become nothing but lies, and she can’t figure a way out and she’s not even sure who she is anymore and might have just a sprinkling of crazy, but you try not to be a little crazy in her situation, if imagining kisses between her and The Hound pleases her, the unreliably narrate away, Sansa. But no actual kisses, please.
(But I do hope the Hound teams up with Brienne and Jaime and Podrick and forms the best A-Team Westeros has ever seen, and they go charging up the Vale just in time to see Sansa push Littlefinger out the Moon Door, cause there’s no one I ship harder than Littlefinger/Moon Door. And then the five of them and gallop off into the sunset to be eaten by zombie or burned by dragons or swallowed by grass, or however the shit is going to hit the fan by the end, because nobody is going to make it out of these books alive, except for maybe Dolorous Edd.)

Though I have to admit I ship Sansa/LF - not in a romantic way - in a “he teaches her the Game, she learns and then turns it against him” kind of way. So yeah, Sansa/Sandor and Littlefinger/Moon Door are the only possible endgame for me. :D
